Tries from Michael Eghan, Peter Bicknell, Tryson Goodchild, Reece Reed and a debut try from Jack Pike secured all four points for Manor. Although Luton applied sustained pressure - particularly in the first half - they were not able to turn possession into points.
Prior to the game, veteran Stuart Tomkinson suffered an injury in the warm up and was replaced by Ryan Staff. Jon Kerr was also unavailable for Saturday’s game and was replaced by Wayne Hemson.
Reece Reed opened the scoring for Eton Manor after just four minutes but Callum McKie struck his conversion wide of the mark. In the 16th minute, Tryson Goodchild doubled the lead and Mckie would step up to put the away side 0-12 into the lead.
The formidable Michael Eghan would power his way through the Luton back line, showing great resilience to clinch the game’s third try. However, Eghan would sustain an ankle injury and would be substituted shorty after. Mckie successfully scored his conversion to give Manor a 0-19 lead.
Manor’s No.5 John Robinson would be sent to the sin bin following an illegal side entry in a scrum and at the stroke of half time, McKie would kick Manor into a 0-22 lead going into the break.
In the early proceedings of the second half, second row Garry Jahn was sin binned, further compiling a miserable afternoon for the hosts.
In the 55th minute, debutant Jack Pike scored his first try for Eton Manor’s first team after some great interchanging play. McKie could not extend the lead however and his conversion was struck off target.
Manor wouldn’t have to wait too long to secure another try as no.13 Peter Bicknell would smash home their fifth of the afternoon and secure the bonus point.
McKie kicked his conversion astray but at 0-32, the away side had all but secured a gratifying result. Luton’s Sam Pacey would be substituted after sustaining a head knock and Manor would go onto safeguard the result, Luton 0-32 Eton Manor.
Manor’s Michael Eghan continues his impressive try scoring form and maintains his position as the club’s top try scorer. The result condemned Luton to their heaviest defeat of the season and the result marked the first time Luton had failed to register a single point during a game this season.
