Under 7s continue winning form

The Under 7s great run of form continued on Sunday, 15th December, as we welcomed near neighbours Dunstablains and Stockwood Park for our traditional pre-Christmas triangular fixture. We recorded 7 wins, 1 drawn game and just 2 losses.

This week, we had enough players for five squads; Dunstablins had two and Stockwood had one. This allowed us to play three matches simultaneously while the remaining Luton players took part in training matches. After each match, we rotated the squads around so as to allow as many competitive games as possible. It also meant that we could welcome new player Benjamin who was able to try out rugby "for real" on his very first day.

Results of the games and the scorers are as follows:

Luton Red Team 8-4 Dunstablians
Josh Wilton (4), Josh Crabree, Josh Allen, Ryan Sears (2)
Luton Red Team 7-5 Dunstablians
Josh Wilton, Josh Crabree, Ryan Sears (5)
Luton Red Team 7-5 Stockwood Park
Josh Wilton (3), Josh Crabree, Josh Allen, Ryan Sears (2)

Luton Green Team 6-5 Dunstablians
Tom Sturrock, Harrison Yang, Charlie Barnwell (2), Freddie Findlay (2)
Luton Green Team 12-4 Dunstablians
Tom Sturrock, Harrison Yang (6), Mason Davis, Charlie Barnwell (4)
Luton Green Team 10-8 Stockwood Park
Tom Sturrock (2), Harrison Yang (5), Mason Davis, Charlie Barnwell (2)

Luton Black Team 7-7 Dunstablians
Matthew Guy, Marcus Richards, Conor O'Donnell (5)
Luton Black Team 10-12 Stockwood Park
Matthew Guy (2), Conor O'Donnell (3), Freddie Findlay (5)

Luton White Team 7-6 Dunstablians
Thomas Read (4), Harrison Storey (3)
Luton White Team 7-8 Dunstablians
Thomas Read (3), Harrison Storey, Isla Herrity (2), Ethan Shelley

Once again, lots of tries were scored by lots of players: 16 of our 20 players got on the score sheet. Particularly noteworthy was Marcus Richards who scored on his debut.

This week we had three "Man of the Match" awards to hand out and, as always, it was difficult to pick out the winners: every player could have won. This week they went to
Charlie Barnwell
Ryan Sears
Conor O'Donnell
All three scored a hatful of tries, but that was not the only criteria (other players scored as many or more). All three have been excellent all season and could have won at any time. All three showed great attacking instincts, but were also solid in defence. None of them took a step backwards all day. Well done lads.
