Luton go 4 unbeaten

Bonus point win for Luton as their run of form continues.

Luton Rugby Football Club are now unbeaten in all four of their opening Midlands Two East South games after comfortably winning 40-0 against Long Buckby away from home on Saturday.
Tries from Bryon O’Dell, Andy Davy, Dave Evans, Aiden Kenny and a double from Chris Davies meant that Luton are now second in the table, two points behind leaders Market Harborough.
A well-played lineout from the five-metre line resulted in O’Dell crashing over the line to make it 5-0 after only six minutes.
Fly-half David Hamm converted well to add on the extra two points.
Long Buckby then had a chance to get three points on the board from a penalty, but their fly-half kicked it wide of his near post.
At the other end, a number of good phases of play from Luton resulted in Davy diving over the line from the back of a ruck.
Hamm converted easily from a slight angle on the 22-metre line to make it 14-0 to the visitors.
The home sides scrum-half was then sent to the sin bin just before halftime for a deliberate offside five metres out that potentially stopped a Luton try.
The visitors went into the break with a 14 point advantage.
Luton scored their third try only a few minutes into the second half, good passing play from a lineout at the 22-metre line resulted in Davies being forced over the line with the help of his teammates to make it 19-0.
Hamm missed the conversion from a very tight angle close to the right touchline.
Davies scored again a couple of minutes later as he brilliantly intercepted a pass close to the 22, leaving him with a clear run to touch down between the posts.
Hamm had no problems with the conversions this time to make it 26-0.
More dominant phases of play from Luton and more good passing meant that Aidan Kenny was found in space on the right wing to touch down easily in the corner.
Replacement fly-half Rik Hobbs kicked the conversion brilliantly from beyond the 22 on the left touchline to make it 33-0.
Luton scored again minutes later as scrum-half David Evans picked the ball up at the back of the ruck and went on a brilliant solo run from 40 metres out, nobody even got close to him and he dived over the line in the corner.
It was a case of deja vu as Hobbs’ conversion was exactly the same as his first one.
Luton’s next league fixture is against Stamford at home on Saturday 21st October.
