Luton Rugby Football’s Clubs thrilling victory over Market Bosworth means Luton remain unbeaten after the first half-dozen games this season.

Tries for the home side from Martin O’Grady, Tom Mahendren,, Ben Murphy Alex Lami and David Hamm. However, they are still one point behind Midlands 2 East (South) leaders Market Harborough.

Market Bosworth dominated the early procession and took the opportunity to put three points on the board when the referee awarded them a penalty on the 22 metre line, the visitors outside centre slotted home the kick easily.

Luton hit back quickly, the home side were awarded a scrum on the five metre line, number eight Matt Yang picked the ball up and passed it to Dave Evans who quickly moved it out to winger O’Grady, and he dived over the line to make it 5-3. Hamm failed to convert.

Fly half Hamm redeemed himself with a simple penalty to make it 8-3 15 minutes before the break.

The second half brought a lot more excitement, Market Bosworth were reduced to 14 men only a minute in, Hamm kicked the penalty deep into touch, the resulting line out was mauled over the line and hooker Murphy was awarded the try.

Hamm converted well close to the touch line at the 22 to make it 15-3.

The home side scored again quickly as Evans passed the ball from the back of a ruck to Jake Hobbs, he played a lovely pass back inside to Mahendren who sprinted over the line from five metres out.

Hamm added on the extra two points again kicking brilliantly from close to touchline and beyond the 22.

Luton gained more ground on their opposition as Denzel Edwards skipped around three players and laid it off to Lami mid-tackle, the later crashed over the line to make it 29-3. Hamm converted easily.

Hamm was the next player to touch the ball down as he received the ball from Evans, found a gap behind two opposition backs and dived over the line. The fly half added the points well.

Fly half Hamm was then sent to the sin bin and Market Harborough took full advantage of the extra man as their winger dived over the line in the corner. The visitors kicker converted well to close the gap to 36-10.

The visitors scored again at the very end, a quick penalty on their own 22 resulted in them breaking quickly and ended with the their centre putting the ball down between the posts. He drop kicked it over from metres out to make it 36-17.

Luton’s next game is a top of the table clash away from home against Market Harborough next weekend.
