Luton Keep the pressure on the top two with a win at Newlands Road against seventh placed Long Buckby.

Dave Evans, David Hamm and got a try-a- piece while Oti Pifeleti picked up two
scores to secure the bonus point victory.

Luton remain third in the Midlands 2 East (South) table, five points behind Market
Harborough and six off leaders Oadby Wyggestonians.

The home side started strong as scrum half Evans collected the ball from the ruck,
metres from the line, and spun away from the tacklers to get over the line. Rik Hobbs
missed the conversion.

However, Long Bucky then took the lead as their number 8 broke the Luton line and
laid the ball off to prop Sam Evans, who then crashed over the line. Bucks’ fly half,
Dan McNally, added the points from the conversion to make it 5-7.

The visitor’s lead didn’t last long as Luton scored three tries in eight minutes. Pifeleti
got the first as he picked up the ball at the back of a scrum, five metres out, and
smashed his way past two tackles to get the ball down. Hobbs missed the kick.

Fly half Hamm extended the lead to 15-7 as Evans passed it out to him from the ruck,
he stepped inside one tackler, handed off the other while a third couldn’t take him
down to stop him getting over the line. Hobbs missed with his boot.

Pifeleti then scored for the second time to give Luton a 13-point lead and it looked
like they were going to run away with the match, but Long Buckby fought back.

First, winger Josh Brown dived over right in the corner, Hamm was then sin binned
for a high tackle, the visitors took advantage of the extra man as centre Jake Okeife
scored and McNally converted again to close the gap to just one point at the break.

Adam Harris scored a controversial try early in the second half, Yang popped the ball
up to the flanker and it looked as though he knocked it on before picking it back up
and scoring, the referee awarded the try and Hamm slotted home the conversion to
make it 27-19.

Hamm then kick a conversion between the posts to add a further three points to the
scoreline.

Tom Garner was then shown a yellow card and the visitors took advantage once more,
they pushed a five-metre scrum over the try line and number eight Daniel Taylor
dived on the ball to secure the losing bonus point and an extra point for four tries.
Ryan Clarke kicked the conversion to make it 30-26.

Luton travel to second bottom, Stamford, next Saturday.
