we took a smaller squad of around 9 or 10 players to shelford this sunday and if im honest I was a little concerned that we may be on the wrong end of a drubbing given the fact that shelford have been one of the top 2 or 3 teams we have played over the last 2 or 3 years, especialy with 6 or 7 players from the squad missing due to half term
in the end we lost the 3 games we played but that was not important this week as they produced 3 teams for us to play of outstanding ability and we were narrowly defeated in all 3 , 2 of them by a solitary try in each game , now most coaches would be disappointed with this but not me , because this was by far our best performance of the season , the results realy do flatter shelford and do not reflect the actual
reality of the games where in all three of them we were camped down in there half for most of the games only to loose out narrowly each time as we started to get tired
in the space of 2 weeks ive seen the tackling of nyles, connor, corey , and jo shoot up by 40% and this sunday all I can say is they must have had 6 shredded wheat each for breakfast that morning as they were all outstanding , coupled with the quality work of cahill saed and maddy and the emerging leadership qualities of Christie , it looks like all the hard work on the training ground is starting to click
more of the same at olney next week please
after the game I was talking to mike kileen and he said he would try and arrange a midweek training session for us if he could so watch this space and look out for e mails , if we can get it I want to do mini games of touch/tackle, followed by touch/ruck then touch/rip
if we don't get the Thursday , see you all next sunday , well done everyone
