we arrived at Cambridge with a squad of 12 or 13 against a Cambridge squad of around 18 or 19
we agreed to play 9 a side games with Cambridge putting out 2 teams and we put out 1 with rolling subs on
each side
now last year Cambridge were by a clear margin the best side we faced when they came to newlands
so I knew this could be the toughest test this year
and so it proved in the first match where we played Cambridge a
this was war of attrition as neither side gave an inch to each other
Cambridge scored right on half time , we equalized early in the second half .
both sides could have nicked a winner but cancelled each other out
luton 5 Cambridge 5
in the second game we changed the starting 9 to play Cambridge b
the first half was a cagey encounter with 1 try each ,
in the second half Cambridge started to wain with the ferocity of our tackling , rucking and mauling
we capitalised running in 2 more trys
luton 15 Cambridge 5
our third game was 1half against team a and the second half against team b
once again we aquited ourselves with hard tackling and rucking/mauling
coming away with a hard won victory
luton 15 Cambridge 10
in the last 8 weeks or so we are probably the most improved side out of all the teams we have played
this year , now you can only coach with the raw material at your disposal
as the players have become sucsesfull a new confidence is starting to emerge
indicating that we genuinely have quite a few diamonds in the rough at the moment
and the potential is massive
a fantastic effort by al
well done everyone
see you at Watford on sunday
