Under 10's set date for Franklyn Gardens

Luton Under 10’s entered the prestigious Mobbs tournament that brings together Clubs from all over the East Midlands in a very tough competition. The Luton squad fancied their chances of doing well following their County Cup success at the end of last season, and proved what a talented team they are scoring 18 tries in 4 matches and only conceding 1. Luton will now be invited to play in a grand final at premiership ground Northampton Saints.

The opening game of the tournament saw Luton face Northampton BBOB’s RFC, Luton were quick out of the blocks with Callum Corley-Doyle running in 4 tries along with Leo Lyons and Toby Hunt both touching down which saw Luton run out 30-0 victors.

Luton’s second match saw them pitted against Leighton Buzzard RFC, there was no letting up from the Newlands Road outfit who ran out 25-0 winners, with Corley-Doyle getting a brace and tries from Hunt, Lewis Read and Farrell Bennett.

In their third pool match a team failed to show so Luton were awarded a 30-0 win, which meant Luton topped their group and were in a round robin final with Towcester RFC and Long Buckby RFC.

First up were a very strong Towcester side, who gave Luton their toughest match of the tournament, Luton took the lead with a Tio Bankole try, but Towcester got back into the match with the only try that Luton conceded all day, on the stroke of half time Corley-Doyle went over to restore the lead for Luton. A frantic second half saw Ryan Swaine make a try line saving tackle putting the player into touch and ensuring Luton kept the lead, shortly after Hunt broke the Towcester line to secure a 15-5 win.

Luton knew only a draw would see them become champions in their final match against Long Buckby, but the Luton squad were determined to finish in style and ran out with a 20-0 victory, Luton’s tries came from a Corley-Doyle hatrick and a try from Hunt, to setup a date at Franklyn Gardens later in the season.
