A depleted Luton under 8’s team had to dip into their talented under 7’s squad to field two teams at Newlands Road against Shelford; the youngsters were unfazed as they helped Luton finish the day unbeaten after 6 matches.
Luton Cobra’s started their day with a 40-40 draw, which saw Callum Corley-Doyle run in 5 tries, supported by Leo Lyons who got himself a brace and Cian Llewellyn who also went over.
Cobra’s second match saw them edge a thrilling match 45-40; Corley-Doyle scored 4 tries, along with Lyons and Lewis Read who both got braces and Josh Wilton who touched down.
Cobra’s last match saw them held in a 35-35 draw, Read and man of the match Corley-Doyle both scored hatricks, with Farrell Bennett also crossing the line.
Luton Vipers were quick out the blocks in their opening match, which saw them secure a 45-20 victory, that saw Tio Bankole score a hatrick, Toby Hunt and Bennett both going over twice along with Ryan Sears and Ryan Swaine also crossing the whitewash.
Viper’s good form continued into their second match, by sealing a 40-30 win, with tries spread across the team. Hunt, Bankole and man of the match Bennett all got braces with Swaine and new recruit Matthew Pack also getting onto the score-sheet.
Viper’s last match saw them ensure Luton completed the day unbeaten by coming from behind to draw 20-20, the Vipers tries coming from Hunt, Bankole, Lyons and a superb try from Harrison Yang.
