Luton Under 8's retained the Bedfordshire County Cup at Dunstable Rugby Club, to the delight of players and parents alike.
Luton were quick out of the blocks in their opening match beating local rivals Stockwood Park 50-15, Callum Corley-Doyle scored 5 tries, Leo Lyons bagged a brace supported by tries from Toby Hunt, Shea O'Donnell and Ryan Swaine.
Luton's second match saw them face hosts Dunstable who were dispatched by rampant Luton 35-5, tries coming from a brace from Corley-Doyle and tries from Lyons, Farrell Bennett, Tio Bankole, Hunt, and O'Donnell.
Luton's last pool match against Biggleswade turned into a decider on who would top the group, again Luton were unstoppable and secured a 40-20 victory, tries coming from braces from Corley-Doyle, Bankole and Lyons along with tries from Adina Hunter and O'Donnell, which ensured Luton reached the semi-final as group winners.
Leighton Buzzard were waiting for Luton in the semi-final, after a tight first half Luton overpowered a well drilled Buzzards team 30-15, to send them through to the final, Luton's tries came from a Corley-Doyle hatrick with Hunt, Lewis Read and Bennett all crossing the whitewash, to setup a cup final with Ampthill.
A hard fought match saw the final finish 20-20, Luton tries coming from Corley-Doyle, Lyons, Bankole and Bennett, the Competition rules stated that in the event of a draw in the final the Cup should be shared.
