Under 7s away to Barnet

Sunday was the best day of the season so far. Not because of our win/draw/loss record, or even for the unique opportunity to play on Astro Turf, but for the fact that for the first time this season, every one of our players scored tries! This has been coming for a long time, so it was great to finally see it.

Originally, we were due to play at Barnet Elizabethans on Sunday, 15th February. However, Barnet's pitches have been waterlogged since Christmas so they made arrangements to host the Under 7s and Under 8s on an Astro Turf pitch at Mill Hill School.

We had 14 players on the day, so split into three squads: Red, Green and Grey. Barnet had plenty of players, so the Grey team ended up playing six-a-side by borrowing a couple of Barnet players. Better to have lots of kids running around like mad things than getting cold watching.

Another great record on the day. We played a total of 10 games across the three squads and won 7, drew 2 and lost just 1. How bad? Scores and scorers were as follows.

We had four "Man of the Match" awards to give out this week.
Josh Wilton is one our very best players. He scores a hatful of tries every time he plays (in fact he is our highest try-scorer so far this season), but he gets on with his business quietly.
Josh Allen is cut from exactly the same mould. He can be relied on to score tries and is always exemplary in defence.
Everything came together this week for our next winner: Kyle O'Leary. He also scored tries, took even more tags, and kept going all morning.
Finally, Oscar Miller gained a well earned MOTM Award this week. I think he had his best game-day this season; really good to see.
