Another great day of rugby as the Under 7s took on Northampton BBOBs and Brackley.

On Sunday, the Under 7s made their longest trip of the season to Northampton to visit BBOBs. Brackley were also there for a triangular, which was a bonus: we do not normally encounter Brackley given the distances between our Clubs.

Mothering Sunday, in combination with the change in the clocks, took a toll on our team as we had just 14 players - easily our smallest turnout this season. A special thank you to all the Mums who brought their kids! Given our poor numbers, we splt the kids into three squads, and we saw 11 of them scoring tries. Overall, we played 13 matches, won ten, drew one and lost just two. Scores and scorers were:

Luton Green 10 v 8 Brackley
Tom Sturrock (4), Harrison Yang, Charlie Barnwell (3), Freddie Findlay (2)
Luton Green 13 v 2 Northampton BBOB

Luton Black 4 v 5 Brackley
Cian Jackman, Conor O'Donnell (3)

We had four "Man of the Match" awards to give out this week.

Firstly, two awards to two of our quieter players, Tom Sturrock and Josh Crabtree. These are two players who quietly get on with it, nothing flash, nothing spectacular: scoring their share of tries, but more importantly, exemplary in defence. They listen to what they are told, learn from every game or training session and improve all the time.

Secondly, one of our youngest players, Conor O'Donnell. Conor always scores a hatful of tries (another 13 this week), but is also very good in defence: it is for this latter aspect that Conor gets the award this week. He is very good at getting right up to the attackers as quickly as possible and putting them under immediate pressure.

Finally, to a player who wins an award, not for try scoring, or for great tagging (though he can do these as well!) but for his atitude on Sunday, Ryan Sears.
