Under 7s home to Leighton Buzzard, 5th October

The Under 7s had another great day of rugby at home to Leighton Buzzard on Sunday. Once again, we split the kids into three squads - Red, Green and White - and between them they played 10 matches, winning five, drawing two and losing just three. This is an excellent return, but more pleasing is that we are edging closer to my goal of seeing all the kids scoring tries: on Sunday, 12 of our 14 players scored, up from 8 out of 15 last week. A big shout our to Isla, Ben, Joe and Colby who all scored their first tries of the season. Excellent stuff.

Full scores and scorers are given below, but in summary:
. the Red Team (Marcus, Daniel, Freddie and Gethin) won three matches and drew one - this last game was just a single half - with Freddie leading the way with 19 tries
. the Green Team (Harrison, Isla, Ben and Sammy) won two matches and drew one, with Harrison (14) and Sammy (12) scoring loads of tries
. the White Team (Joe, Ollie, Darcey, Joel, Colby and John) had a less successful time, losing all three games. Unfortunately, some of the players were not interested in playing, and despite promises of chocolate, it was difficult to keep a full 4 team squad on the pitch. This is reflected in their scores where they lost by 1, then 2, then 3 tries over their three games. Ho, hum.

We only had one "Man of the Match" award this week as only one of the trophies was returned from last week. A well-deserved award went to Isla. I reffed one of her matches last week and noted the huge improvement in concentration and attention then. This week it all came together as she ran in five tries. Well done, Isla.

Honourable mentions this week go to Joe, Ollie, and Colby who did not give up, and to Marcus who really went through the wars!
