Another successful day as the Under 7s near 100% of their players scoring tries

A little later than I would like, but here is the match report for last Sunday, home to Ampthill and Dunstablians. Dunstablians brought three squads of players, and Ampthill brought six; we had similar numbers to Dunstablians so we laid out six pitches for the twelve squads. We were hopeful that everyone would get to play the maximum permitted 5 matches playing 5-minutes-each-way games but unfortunately we did not manage this.

Luton played a total of 8 games; we won 5, drew 1 and lost 2 which is not too bad. Well done kiddy winks. Most pleasing was that we had 11 out of 13 players scoring tries. We are edging ever closer to 100%. Scores and scorers were:

Luton Red Team 10 - 5 Ampthill
Tries: Marcus, Freddie (9)
Luton Red Team 6 - 6 Ampthill
Tries: Freddie (5), Isla
Luton Red Team 8 - 1 Dunstablains
Tries: Marcus (3), Freddie (4), Isla

Luton Green Team 8 - 7 Dunstablians
Tries: Ben (3), Harrison, Gethin (3), Sammy
Luton Green Team 17 - 18 Ampthill
Tries: Ben (5), Harrison (3), Gethin (7), Sammy (2)
Luton Green Team 7 - 5 Dunstablians
Tries: Ben (2), Harrison (2), Gethin (3)

Luton White Team 3 - 2 Dunstablians
Tries: Darcy, Colby (2)
Luton White Team 3 - 4 Dunstablians
Tries: Archie, Colby, Marley

We only had one Man of the Match Award to hand out and, as always, it was a difficult decision to make. Amongst the special mentions must be made of Archie, Colby and Marley (playing for the first time ever). They did not take a step backwards all morning. Due to our small squads (no subs), our players all played every minute of every game. I bet we had some tired kiddies on Sunday evening. Grins. A special mention to Ben who joined us for the first time this season, to Freddie who scored his usual hatful of tries (I need to open a book on how log it will take Freddie to join the "100 Club"), and to Gethin who had a great morning. The winner, though, was Marcus who scored his share of tries, took a load of tags and played extremely well all day. Well done.

A quick reminder that we are off to High Wycombe on Sunday. I will see you there.
