Under 7s enjoy the sunshine in their last home game of the season

On Sunday, Luton Under 7s welcomed Biggleswade, Camelot and St Albans to Newlands Road. The large number of visitors (no less than 9 visiting squards) ensured that our boys and girls were going to get a lot of rugby, and so it proved! We had a great turn out from the players, so we were able to form four squads (Red, Green, Black, White) for the first time this season. This was really great to see! A big welcome on board to Rebecca who joined us for the first time.

Our four squads played a toal of 15 games, winning 9, drawing 2 and losing 4. We scored 118 tries and conceded 102. A great return on our morning's rugby. Scores and scorers were as follows:

Luton Red Team 13 v 12 Biggleswade
Tries: Lucas (3), Freddie (6), Sammy (4)
Luton Red Team 6 v 6 Camelot
Tries: Lucas (2), Freddie (3), Isla
Luton Red Team 7 v 6 Camelot

Luton Red Team 10 v 7 Biggleswade

Luton Green Team 11 v 8 Camelot
Tries: Ben (2), Marcus (5), Gethin (4)
Luton Green Team 13 v 12 Biggleswade

Luton Green Team 8 v 9 Camelot
Tries: Ben (4), Marcus, Gethin (3)

Luton Black Team 11 v 5 Camelot
Tries: Joe (5), Archie (4), Colby (2)
Luton Black Team 6 v 6 Biggleswade
Tries: Joe (5), Archie
Luton Black Team 7 v 3 St Albans
Tries: Joe (6), Archie

Luton White Team 3 v 2 Biggleswade
Tries: Harvey, Callum (2)
Luton White Team 5 v 6 St Albans
Tries: Harvey (2), Callum (3)
Luton White Team 4 v 5 Camelot
Tries: Harvey (2), Callum (2)
Luton White Team 6 v 5 St Albans
Tries: Harvey, Callum (2), Joe, Archie, Colby

As always, picking the Man of the Match was difficult. We had two prizes to award between four squads. We had a number of outstanding players on the day, and any one of them could have won. Honourable mentions go to Harvey and Callum in the White Team - their support play and the inter-play between them was cracking; to Archie in the Black Team who had a great day; and to Gethin in the Green Team who quietly got on with his work oh so effectively. The first winner, however, goes to Joe who scored a load of tries, got lots of tags, and played excellent rugby all morning. The other winner is Freddie - not becasue he scored his usual hatful of tries or because he tagged like a demon, but for his great attitude all day. When he was pulled up by one referee for running with the ball in one hand (which is perfectly legal, BTW) he did not argue or complain, but played to the referee. Well done Joe and Freddie.
