Luton Under 7s have a great day on their first away games of the season

Luton Under 7s made their first away trip of the season to Biggleswade on Sunday. In great weather conditions, all the kids had a great day and they certainly made hay! We played eight games, winning six, drawing one and losing just one match. We had just 10 players on the day, so split into two squads - Red and Green. Biggleswade had enough players for four squads so rotated them through ensuring that each of our squads got four games. My target of every player scoring at least one try is getting closer: from less than 60% last week to 80% this week. Keep going, kiddy winks. Scores and scorers are as follows:

Luton Red 7 v 4 Biggleswade
Tries: Callum (4), Archie (3)
Luton Red 6 v 5 Biggleswade
Tries: Callum (4), Archie (2)
Luton Red 6 v 3 Biggleswade
Tries: Callum, Jake (2), Archie (2), Joseph
Luton Red 7 v 9 Biggleswade
Tries: Callum (2), Jake, Archie (4)

Luton Green 6 v 4 Biggleswade
Tries: Corey (3), Ollie, Liam, Josh W
Luton Green 6 v 8 Biggleswade
Tries: Corey (2), Ollie (4), Josh W (2)
Luton Green 8 v 6 Biggleswade
Tries: Corey (3), Ollie (3), Liam, Josh W
Luton Green 9 v 2 Biggleswade
Tries: Corey (2), Ollie (6), Liam

Once again, we had two man of the match awards to hand out, so one per squad. As always, it was very difficult to choose: we had 10 great candidates! For the Green Team, Ollie top-scoring with 14 tries and 34 tags (count 'em!) was outstanding (but won last week), or Josh W (also a prize winner last week) or Liam who scored his debut tries were all in the running. But the prize went to Corey, not for his 10 tries or for his 21 tags, but for his game sense; great in defence, up in the oppositions faces, great running lines and support play.

For the Red Team, Callum and Archie were their usual excellent selves, ably backed by Joseph and Jake, but the winner was Edward. His defence was ferocious, his hunger for tags immense, also great at getting up on the opposition; he did everything but score a try - even when he was over the line and I was screaming like a lunatic at him to "PUT THE BALL DOWN" he knew he was tagged and passed the ball. But what clinched it was his attitude: the improvement in just the space of a week was truly amazing. Well done Corey and Edward.
